Big Apple Bagels Monday - Friday: 6:00 am - 6:00 pm As one might imagine, Big Apple Bagels is a bagel shop. You might be surprised how many different kinds of bagels are possible (garlic bagel?) and so many different kinds of flavored cream cheese that each experience is unique. But BABs as it is called (there is no one named Barbara there as far as we can tell, Babs being short for Barbara you see), is a lot more than steamed dough. Fresh sandwiches made on toasted bagels are a BocaJump favorite, but BABs also offers soups, salads, and muffins to go along with their large selection. Everything is fresh and good, no steam table stuff here. For the coffee drinkers, BABs offers specialty coffee and espresso drinks from Brewster’s Coffee, but that feature will be covered in an upcoming BocaJump profile of coffee shops in Elgin. A dining suggestion? Well, we Bocas love the breakfast bagel with ham, eggs, and cheese. For lunch, we're partial to the chicken Caesar bagel. Those will cost about $3.50 and $6.00 respectively, so pretty inexpensive for the amount and quality of food. |
