Adding to this, I have one more definition of “Eclipse”…it is the new entertainment concept coming to Elgin known as The Eclipse Room. The Eclipse Room offers an intimate setting to enjoy your favorite drink and disappear into the familiar sounds of your favorite music. It promises to be a new and exciting experience every week. One week it may be the Rat Pack sounds of yesteryear and the next, perhaps a performance reminiscent of the Beatles rocking the stage on the “Ed Sullivan Show.” This downtown Elgin night spot will also bring comedians that have appeared on “The Tonight Show” and “Jimmy Kimmel Live”. This is all starting to make sense to me now. This local soon-to-be hot spot may just overshadow other hot spots in the area because there is nothing like this to be found in Elgin or the surrounding areas!
So, how does this come to Elgin? This is the brainchild and long time dream of Marco Diaz, owner of La Puesta del Sol, 165 E. Highland, Elgin, and his childhood friend, Raul Barbosa, both born and raised in Elgin. (Side note: They attended St. Joseph Catholic School together, and then on to high school, where Raul attended Larkin, while Marco went to Elgin Academy). Marco draws from his family’s 38 years of experience as grocers and restaurateurs to deliver the finest in Mexican cuisine. Raul has years of experience in bringing name entertainment to Elgin. Get these two together, and look out, downtown Elgin…a new entertainment concept that you are going to love!The grand opening of Eclipse, upstairs of La Puesta del Sol, is Saturday, April 16, 2011 and their premier band is Mr. Meyers. Mr. Meyers music is a unique blend of calypso, ska, Reggae and a pinch of Rock and Roll thrown in to create a fun, upbeat sound of what Mr. Meyers refers to as “Caribbean Rock”. Good beat and easy to dance to! Throw in a few Jimmy Buffet songs that we all know and love, and a memorable night is had by all. I have seen Mr. Meyers quite a few times in various venues throughout the Midwest, and I have never been disappointed – always a good time! Who could not have a good time listening to Caribbean Rock?
But that’s not all…These two innovators will bring a variety of entertainers to the intimate setting of The Eclipse Room. Among them are – Frank “Mr. “Rat Pack” Lamphere (RatPackJazz.com) who will share his jazzy sounds of Sinatra, Bublé & Connick on 4/23/11. Then on 4/29/11, look for the “Piano Man”, a 5-piece band who that celebrates the sounds of Elton John and Billy Joel. Or what about, coming in May…BritBeat (BritBeat.com), the Beatles tribute band – you don’t want to miss them! They have as many eye-catching costume changes as top hit Beatle’s songs in their show! It’s a “Don’t-want-to-miss-THIS” kind of show!
