The City of Elgin, in collaboration with area community and business leaders, will hold its inaugural Elgin International Festival, or Elgin iFest, on Sept. 1, 2012, at Festival Park in Elgin. Elgin iFest will bring together dozens of the world’s cultures, reflecting the diversity of cultures in Elgin. Elgin’s iFest will feature music and entertainment, ethnic cuisine, children’s activities, a "world market," as well as ethnic arts and crafts.
The ingredients that make a festival a success are world class food, exhibits and entertainment. The iFest Planning Committee is looking for food vendors, exhibitors and entertainers who will offer international flavors and rhythms throughout the day and evening. The goal of the 2012 iFest is to showcase the contributions of the proud and vast cultures in our community. Elgin’s great diversity makes this city a fabulous place to live, work, play and do business. Danise Habun, chairwoman of the International Festival Committee expects to attract an audience outside of Elgin to attend as well. “Our neighboring communities throughout the Greater Fox Valley of Northern Illinois also will enjoy and benefit from this wonderful dynamic.”
