The arts community will be the center of attention at Art & Soul on the Fox/Passeggiata and Kaleidoscope produced by Art for All and the City of Elgin. The event will fill downtown Elgin with art and music on DuPage Court, Spring Street and Grove Avenue on Saturday, July 28th, and Sunday, July 29th.
Free and open to the public from 11 a.m. both days, Art and Soul on the Fox offers a visually captivating environment of gifted, juried artists and hand-crafted artisans working in a variety of mediums, including ceramics, fiber, glass, jewelry, metal, photography, watercolors, wood and more.
Amidst the art show, The Elgin Cultural Arts Commission will present Kaleidoscope of music Saturday afternoon from noon to 7 p.m. in DuPage Court with on-stage musical entertainment, including a wide variety of musical styles. At 7 p.m. Art for All's Grammy-nominated Beth Patterson will go onstage to kick off the Passeggiata nighttime celebration.
The popular Walkabout: Theater on Your Feet begins Friday night and continues through Sunday evening. This year’s Walkabout is titled Tales From Poe, featuring the stories of Edgar Allen Poe, adapted and performed by four professional theater troupes from the Elgin area. Sunday highlights include phenomenal local opera, more music and dance, plus the auction of the citywide outdoor art exhibit, Elgin Al Fresco-A Taste of the Arts bistro sets, great festival food and much more.
“What better way to spend a weekend-art, music and good food? Plus the events profits will once again benefit scholarships for future local young artists,” says Sandy Kaptain, president of Art for All.
