Ricky Tuxpan, 18, of the 200 block of Waverly, Elgin, died Monday, Nov. 7, after he was struck by a car on Saturday night, Nov. 5, as he attempted to walk across four lanes of traffic on Summit Street.

Police continue to investigate the accident but believe that a 2003 Saturn Vue was eastbound on Summit at about 10 p.m. when it struck Tuxpan as he attempted to cross Summit from the north.

Both Tuxpan and the driver were taken to Provena Saint Joseph Hospital, where Tuxpan died Monday morning. The driver was released shortly after the accident on Saturday.

No one has been cited in the accident, however, police continue to investigate. Anyone with information is encouraged to call 1-847-289-2700.
