As if the state’s massive, three-year intersection reconstruction and the city’s downtown road projects weren’t enough, Kane County has several intersection improvement projects planned along Randall Road in Elgin, and is partnering with the state on two of them.
City engineer Joe Evers said Thursday he does not have all the details on the projects yet from the Kane County Division of Transportation, so he is uncertain of the timing of the construction work on the projects.
Three involve intersection improvements. Dave Boesch, of the Kane County Division of Transportation, said Friday his agency is leading the improvements to Randall Road at Foothill Road. The work, he said, involves the addition of turn lanes for the ramps off Route 20 and off Foothill Road. There will be new twin left-turn lanes off the Route 20 ramp and new dedicated left- and right-turn lanes off Foothill to Randall.
The Illinois Department of Transportation is the lead agenct for the work at Randall at Big Timber Road, and at Randall at Illinois 72.
Also along Randall, Kane County Division of Transportation’s website notes plans this year for patching work along Randall on the bridge over Tyler Creek and the Metra and Union Pacific Railroad track.
