The Elgin City Council on Wednesday will be asked to approve installation of a stop sign for southbound traffic at Knollwood and Brookside drives.

BocaJump will be on hand to provide live-blogging coverage of the meeting.

The for the stop sign came from a resident who said drivers often ignore the yield sign for southbound traffic on Knollwood Drive at Brookside Drive. Knollwood ends at Brookside in a Y-shaped intersection.

A staff memo to the council said the resident’s request was advanced to the council by the Community Engagement Committee, which considers such issues.

The City Council approved the installation of a stop sign at Preston Avenue, which terminates at Linden Avenue in a T intersection, in July 2010.

The council meets as a committee of the whole at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, in the Elgin City Council Chambers, followed by its regular meeting at 7 p.m.

The meetings agendas are below:
